About PDF compression
PDF is a convenient format, but files with images can weigh too much. Our tool rebuilds PDF pages into images with selected quality and creates a new, lighter PDF.
Everything happens in the browser. Files are not uploaded to the server. If after compression the file becomes larger than the original, we return the original and inform you about it.
Why use this converter
- Privacy: files are not uploaded to the server.
- Free: no registration or limits.
- Protection: if the file did not compress, you get the original.
- Fast: compression takes a few seconds.
How to use
- Drop the PDF file into the upload area.
- Choose compression quality.
- Click "Compress PDF" and download the result.
Frequently asked questions
Where do my files go? Nowhere. The PDF is processed in the browser's memory and disappears when you close the page.
Why did the text become unselectable? During compression, pages are rebuilt as images (JPEG). This reduces size, but text turns into a picture.
Why didn't the file compress? For text PDFs, rebuilding into images may result in a larger size. In this case, we return the original.
