About JSON formatting
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a text format for data exchange. It is used in APIs, configuration files, databases and web applications. However, unformatted JSON is hard to read: everything on one line, without indentation.
Our tool formats JSON directly in your browser: adds indentation, sorts keys, checks for errors. Data is not sent to the server.
What the tool can do
- Formatting: 2, 4 spaces or tab.
- Minification: compress into one line.
- Validation: check for errors with indication.
- Key sorting: alphabetical order.
- Privacy: data is not uploaded to the server.
How to use
- Paste JSON into the left panel.
- Choose indent and options.
- Click "Format" / "Minify" / "Validate".
- Copy or download the result.
Frequently asked questions
What is JSON formatting? It is adding indentation and line breaks for convenient reading. JSON becomes structured and understandable.
How does minification differ from formatting? Minification removes all spaces and line breaks — JSON becomes a single line. This reduces file size.
How to check JSON for errors? Click "Validate" — the tool will tell you if JSON is valid and point to the error if there is one.
Is it safe to use the tool? Yes. Everything happens in the browser, data is not sent to the server.
